Winter has returned with a vengeance!

We have been plunged into a cold snap combined with some very nasty blowing snow over the last few days. Now we are getting a few days of very cold but sunny weather as partial compensation. But like all good farmers we are not satisfied! Sunny and warm is what we want!

This area between two greenhouses was almost cleared of snow but the last few days have cured that. If you look carefully you can see the peak vent open in this greenhouse and water vapour exiting from it. For another more dramatic example take a look here.

Lots of snow on sides of greenhouses

With the heavy blowing snow we got some build-up on the roof. This is just on the lee side of the peak vent. No danger of collapse and the roof clears quite quickly in a heated greenhouse.

Let it snow.

The weather is supposed to be cold for the next several days with gradual warming. Let hope this is our last real taste of winter. We will be hoping to move our pansies into the outside beds at the end of the month!
